Antwerp, Belgium—British business magnate Sir Richard Branson will be the guest of honor at the 2008 Antwerp Diamond Conference.

The annual conference, titled "Diamonds, a symbol of value," will take place from Nov. 17-18 and is expected to draw key players from all areas of the diamond world.

Branson, best known for his Virgin brand, will speak at the conference's gala dinner the evening of Nov. 17. He will explain how he manages to turn challenges into successful business exploits.

An internationally known businessman, Branson began Virgin as a mail-order record retailer. Over the years, he has grown the brand into more than 200 companies worldwide, employing 50,000 people in more than 30 countries. Today, the Virgin brand encompasses international music stores, air travel, mobile phones and much more.

Branson follows in the footsteps of such luminaries as Liberian President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, Irish pop star Sir Bob Geldof, former U.S. President Bill Clinton, former U.S. Vice President Al Gore and South African President Thabo Mbeki.

Registration for the conference will soon be available through a dedicated Web site, AntwerpDiamondConference.be.
