Stuller re-opens after Hurricane Gustav
September 04, 2008
Lafayette, La.—Stuller re-opened for business on Wednesday afternoon with a skeletal crew, after Hurricane Gustav forced the company to close on Tuesday. In a statement released to the press late Wednesday, Stuller said its facilities, systems and infrastructure were not affected by the hurricane, and that it would do its best to continue business as usual: "Today [Wednesday], we will do our best to ship all orders received prior to 3:00 p.m. Central Daylight Time (CDT). We will continue to take orders until our 5:00 p.m. CDT closing time due to local and regional curfews. Orders received between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. CDT will be shipped on Thursday, Sept. 4th. All scheduled orders from Stuller.com will be submitted at 3:00 p.m. CDT." Stuller also said that due to the uncertainty of its carrier's schedules, it cannot guarantee next-day delivery for orders placed on Sept. 3, but it will make every effort to do so. Hurricane Gustav, the second major hurricane of the 2008 season, made landfall in the United States along the Louisiana coast on Monday as a strong Category 2 hurricane. It was downgraded to a tropical depression on Tuesday. Damage is estimated up to $12 billion, according to news reports.
