Mayors makes deal with TD Retail

Mahwah, N.J.--TD Retail Card Services has announced that it will administer the private-label credit card program for Birks and Mayors' U.S. stores, those operating under the Mayors name.

The credit card company already handles the private-label credit card program for Birks and Mayors' Birks stores in Canada.

Under the new agreement, TD Bank N.A. will direct all facets of the program for the 30 Mayors stores, which are located across Florida and Georgia.

Following the move to TD Retail Card Services, current Mayors cardholders will continue to enjoy a variety of financing options, the retailer said in a media release, including interest-free and low-interest offerings, as well as a customer loyalty rewards program. Cardholders will also continue to receive an array of special incentives and services, such as free jewelry cleaning, gift certificates on their birthdays, free deliveries, free engraving of up to 10 characters with any purchase of $200 or more and advance notice on all Mayors special events, promotions and sales.

Given that Birks and Mayors selected TD Retail Card Services back in January 2009 to handle the private-label credit card program for its 37 Birks stores throughout Canada, as well as for Birks.com, the retailer has had something of a test run with the company and its services.

"Because of TD Bank Retail Card Services' extraordinary business acumen and financial strength, we are enthusiastic about expanding our relationship with them," Marco Pasteris, group vice president, finance and treasurer of Birks and Mayors, said in the release. "We are looking forward to replicating in our U.S. operations the same success we have had with TD Bank Retail Card Services in our Canadian operations."
