Macy's rewarding sweet tweets with diamonds

New York--This Valentine's Day, Macy's is giving users of the micro-blogging site Twitter the chance to show just how romantic they can be.

According to a press release, Macy's is sponsoring a "Sweetest Tweets" contest in which it is asking Twitterers to share their original love notes using the tag #sweetesttweets in the message.

The "tweets"-the term used to describe posts or status updates made by Twitters users--must be 140 characters or less, as all tweets must be.

From Feb. 1 to Feb. 13, Macy's will reward the sweetest tagged tweet of the day with a diamond pendant.
 
On Feb. 14, the social networker with the most romantic tweet tagged #sweetesttweets will receive the grand prize, a three-stone diamond ring.

"Valentine's Day is all about expressing love and devotion to friends and family," Martine Reardon, Macy's executive vice president of marketing, said in the release. "There isn't a better way to express those emotions than connecting with the people in your life in fun, unique and modern ways. The 'sweetest tweets' can be about a declaration of love or about thanking your loved ones for always being there. The possibilities are endless."
